Brooklyn, Conn. — Millie Simone has never had a garden.
The 48-year-old mother and grandmother has never been able to decorate her kitchen the way she’s wanted to: in an apple theme.
By the end of the month, she’ll get to do both.
Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Connecticut dedicated its 10th home to Simone and her family Saturday during a ceremony in Brooklyn that brought the new homeowner to tears.
“I can’t begin to express how I feel,” she said. “My first home. It’s unbelievable. I can’t wait to start a garden.”
